Join the Utah Wasatch Champions Chapter of Canine Companions for Independence® for our fifth annual Imagine Independence fundraising event! Canine Companions provides highly trained assistance dogs for children and adults with disabilities free of charge.
Imagine Independence will feature local Canine Companions for Independence® human-canine teams, and will include a dinner and silent auction at the Union Station Browning Theater in Ogden. Guests may mingle with the teams to learn firsthand how Canine Companions assistance dogs enable independence.
IMAGINE….. Not being able to reach a light switch or elevator button. Not being able to open the door or pick up your dropped keys. Not being able to hear the smoke alarm. Imagine your child not being able to relate to the world.
Now, Imagine Independence.
Independence
made possible by highly trained assistance dogs that respond to the
needs of adults and children with disabilities provided free of charge
by Canine Companions for Independence®. Canine Companions relies solely on donations to provide these canine helpers for free. The
organization estimates it costs $50,000 to fund a dog’s breeding,
training and the ongoing follow-up services after the dog is placed.
Your support of Imagine
Independence will enable Canine Companions to provide assistance dogs to
children and adults with a wide range of disabilities, including
wounded veterans. Canine Companions even provides facility dogs to work alongside healthcare or special education providers. As always, there is no charge to
the recipients of these wonderful dogs. In 2013, Canine Companions
graduated 254 teams, followed by 289 in 2014 and 309 last year.
In Utah, there are 23 Canine Companions assistance dogs helping children and adults with disabilities daily.
Please help support this life-changing program!
